HCLTech, a global technology company, announced today that it has signed the European Commission’s AI Pact, committing to responsible AI development and deployment ahead of the EU’s AI Act implementation.

The shares of HCL Technologies Limited were trading at ₹1,668.90 up by ₹99.50 or 6.34 per cent on the NSE today at 2.55 pm.

The voluntary framework requires signatories to take proactive steps toward ethical AI practices with emphasis on safety, transparency, and human oversight.

As part of this commitment, HCLTech will adopt an AI governance strategy, identify systems likely to be categorized as high-risk under the AI Act, and promote AI awareness among employees.

“It’s important that this technology is leveraged responsibly,” said Heather Domin, Vice President of Responsible AI and Governance at HCLTech. She emphasized the company’s commitment to “trustworthy development, deployment and use of AI systems” that benefit society while minimizing risks.

The company has already established an Office of Responsible AI and Governance to implement responsible AI practices internally and with clients. These practices focus on accountability, fairness, security, privacy, and transparency.

HCLTech currently employs over 223,000 people across 60 countries and provides services in digital technology, engineering, cloud computing, and AI. The company works with clients across multiple sectors including Financial Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Technology, Telecom, Retail, and Public Services.

For the 12-month period ending March 2025, HCLTech reported consolidated revenues of $13.8 billion.
