The first train set for Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line which will connect key locations such as Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City is expected to be dispatched on January 6th, confirmed Tejasvi Surya, Bengaluru South MP.
In a post on X, Surya shared that the initial train is ready for dispatch, with subsequent deliveries scheduled.
The second train is expected by the end of January or early February, followed by the third in April. Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), the supplier, plans to deliver one train per month initially, ramping up to two trains per month by September. Surya emphasised the importance of parallel efforts by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to secure all necessary CMRS approvals to avoid further delays.

Previously, Maheshwar Rao M., Managing Director of BMRCL, told businessline that the first train set was anticipated to be dispatched by the end of this year. He added that one train set is ready, with two more expected by January 2025, after which deliveries will arrive in batches of two.
The initial train sets for the Yellow Line are being supplied by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd.
Surya attributed delays in production to various challenges, including visa issues for engineers. He noted that a dedicated production line had been established by Titagarh for BMRCL’s requirements.
To expedite the process, he requested the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to visit the plant in Kolkata on January 6, inspect the facility, and flag off the trains. Surya also confirmed his presence at the event.
