Providing relief to consumers, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), marketer of milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, has reduced milk prices by Re 1 per litre across all markets in India.
However, this reduction is applicable to one litre milk packets only, Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF told businessline. “For instance, Amul Gold 1 litre pack costing Rs 66 in Gujarat will be available for Rs 65, while Amul Taaza 1 litre pack costing Rs 54 will now be available for Rs 53,” he added.

When asked for the reason behind the reduction in milk prices, Mehta said, “This is to encourage consumers to buy larger packs of milk and get incentive for the same.”
After the Lok Sabha elections concluded, Amul had hiked milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across the country in June 2024.
